| Introduction |
| General
Belting is a major supplier of conveyor
belting to the Resources Industry. The
Company was established in 1968 to produce
conveyor belting. The factory was set up by
Balatros of Hamburg, Germany, but since has been
localized and General Belting is now a division of
TH (Zimbabwe Limited which is a wholly Zimbabwean
owned group of companies quoted on the Zimbabwe
Stock Exchange.
General Belting still
manufactures under license to Balatros. The
company maintains close ties with its German
principles especially with regard to
specifications and the maintenance of standards. |

Belting still manufactures a wide range of
textile reinforced belting and is continuously
upgrading its products to meet the needs of the
industries it services. The mining industry
is the largest customer of General Beltings but
Industries Agriculture are also supplied.
Rubber and PVC beltings is
produced and all are marked with the Balatros
Trade Mark and the Zimbabwe Standards Association
Mark. General Beltings is ISO 9002 certified
through the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS)
and holds the SABS 1173/1977 product mark.
Since its inception in 1968, General Beltings has
developed export markets in the following
countries. |

Balatros rubber conveyor belting
is manufactured using fabric
reinforcement containing only
synthetic materials.
Polyester is used in the warp to
ensure minimal stretch. Polyamide
is used in the weft which
provides excellent impact
resistance.

Covering Conveyor Belting
- Manufactured
in widths up to 1800mm.
- Fabrics
used are normally EP
(polyester / polyamide)
- Most Classes
of belt can be manufactured
(from EP100 to EP400)
depending on customers'
requirements.
- Rubber
covers are also available to
customer requirements and
can be supplied in either
grade 'N' (Standard) or 'M'
(for highly abrasive
material)
- Heat
resistance and oil
resistance are available.
- Specialized
belting such as elevator and
'Gripface' can also be
supplied.

- Every belt
is measured approximately
every 10m.
this ensures tractability
as detailed records are kept
on the production,
manufacture and test results
of each belt. It also ensures
easier re-cording. As
the number of the belt being
replaced need only be quoted
as all details of the belt
will be held at the factory.
- Imprinted
alongside the number every
10m. will be the Balatros
Trade Mark, the class and
number of piles and the SABS
and SAZ standard marks.
