Kabwe
Industrial Fabrics Limited (KIF) has been in the
Packaging Business for over 30 years. The Company was established in
1937
as a jute plant to supply the agricultural sector and related industries.
During the following ten years KIF invested in
Polypropolene (PP) and Polyethylene (PE) plants,
enabling the Company to successfully enter the
milling, fertiliser and sugar markets. This expansion also strengthened
KIF's
position in the Agricultural sector.
to the extent that it has become a market leader.
In 1996 KIF was bought as a joint venture between Tate & Lyle PLC
(UK)
and Knightsbridge, a Zambian Company. Tate & Lyle are also owners
of the Zimbabwe Sugar Refinery Corporation (ZSR), Zimbabwe's largest
sugar refining concern.
The new Company injected several millions of dollars investment into
the brand new,
state of the art equipment, able, not only to produce the highest quality
packaging,
but also with the capacity to supply both domestic and export markets
with some of the best polypropylene packaging in the region.
ZSR Management has since bought Tate & Lyle's interest in both
ZSR and Kabwe Industrial Fabrics Limited.
