About Us

Allenwest (Z) Ltd was incorporated in the republic of Zambia on April 21^st 1965 as a subsidiary of Allenwest Electrical Limited of Brighton in the UK. The company is one of the pioneering electrical engineering companies in the country.

In the mid nineteen eighties the company became wholly Zambian owned under the Chipoza Holdings Group of Companies. Allenwest (Z) Limited is the country appointed distributor for ALLENWEST ELECTRICAL OF THE UK and GE INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS OF SOUTH AFRICA.

Allenwest (Z) Ltd is involved in the manufacture of Factory Built Assemblies (FBAs) and special purpose control panels to high quality and technical standards. The company is also a vendor of control and automation products, switchgear, electrical equipment and electric motors. Some of these products are listed hereunder.

Motor Control Centre

BUSBAR SYSTEM - ASTA CERTIFIED

- Totally enclosed in flame retardant glass reinforced polyester to prevent accidental
contact with live bars.
- Active riser entry points are fitted with padlockable sliding shutters.
- Unused points are fitted with plugs and are mechanically secured in position.

HORIZONTAL BUSBARS

- Copper busbars are air insulated and electro-plated as standard but can
be PVC insulated if specified.
- Located in a separate fully segregated compartment at the top of the
cubical.
- Sliding Panels provide access to bars for inspection.

EARTH BAR

- Copper, rated for the system fault level and runs the full length of the
M.C.C.

CONTACTORS

Type CT/ZD-5
- Thermal Ratings 75, 150, 250 and 450 Amps
- Available as single or double pole conductors.
- Up to 4 auxiliary contacts on single pole or 8 auxiliary conductors contacts on double pole versions.
- Designed for use in crane and rail traction applications.
- Type tested to BS 5424 and BS 2618
- Totally asbestos free construction
- Easy contact inspection
- Electro magnetic blowouts
- Horizontal mechanical interlock can be fitted between adjacent contactors to prevent simultaneous
closure.
- Front or back connected.

Ratings (Up to 300 operations/hour)
