Drilltech Engineering
Services Limited is a Zambian company based on the copperbelt and has a
branch in Chilanga , Lusaka. The
location of the offices is at plot 1504, Natwange Road, heavy industrial
area, Kitwe.
Drilltech Engineering
Services Limited was formed in 1997 by former managers of Boart Longyear
Zambia to purchase the assets of Boart Longyear Zambia that were
previously used for drilling activities.
This opportunity arose out of a change in operating strategy by
Anglo American Corporation who owns Boart Longyear.
To
effect the purchase, a Management Buy Out (MBO) of the Drilling Division
of Boart Longyear was concluded at the end of September 1997.
The formation of Drilltech was seen as an important step forward in
the desire to achieve empowerment of indigenous Zambians to run private
companies.

ACTIVITIES
Drilltech Engineering Services is engaged in the following business
activities:

Diamond
Core Drilling
Carrying out drilling work for mineral exploration, environmental studies
and soil investigations. The
main customers being Copper mines, Government, foreign and local mineral
prospecting companies. The
company has over 30 years of experience in drilling, mainly carrying out
support services for Anglo-American Corporation investments. Contracts
have been executed in Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique and Congo over the
years

Water Well/Borehole Drilling
Carrying out borehole drilling, deepening, cleaning and
development This business line also covers the supply of pumps, water
storage tanks and all plumping works.
Customers include individuals, ZCCM, Government (schools, hospitals
etc.), parastatal and private companies, individuals and Non-Governmental Organizations
(NGO’s)

General Engineering
Machining and fabrication of steel products for various applications.
Manufacture of mining bar gear and support equipment, drifter machine
spares, airlegs and airleg spares. Contract/maintenance service
through provision of skilled labour to carry out specialized installation
and maintenance work.

General Trading
Distributorship arrangements with Loudon Industries of USA and Manley
Steels of Canada for the supply of Rock Hog drilling products such as DTH
hammers and bits, tunnel rods, button bits and other drilling accessories
are in place .Being in the water well drilling business, Drilltech also
supplies Onga submersible and booster pumps from Australia.

850 mobile multipurpose drilling rig with a capability of drilling up to 400
metres reverse circulation and 1000 metres BQ size diamond core.

2 x longyear 44 drill rigs with a capability of drilling up to 800 metres.

2 x longyear 38 drill rigs with a capability of drilling up to 350 metres.
-
5 x cable tool rigs (percussion) with capability of drilling up to 150 metres.
