ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc (ZCCM - IH) is a successor company to Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Limited (ZCCM).  The company has its primary listing on the Lusaka Stock Exchange and its secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange.

ZCCM was a 60.3 per cent owned mining company which Anglo American held 27.3 per cent shares through Zambia Copper Investments (ZCI) and the balance of 12.4 per cent held by private investors.

The privatization of ZCCM started in 1996, after the Government and the Boards of ZCCM and the Zambia Privatization Agency (ZPA) approved the ZCCM Privatization Report and Plan. The mode of privatization adopted was to unbundle the Company and sell its assets in business packages.

As a result, the majority interests in the packages relating to certain of ZCCM's mining  and power distribution operations were offered to trade buyers, which transformed ZCCM into an investment holding company with minority interests in each of these packages.

ZCCM has the following retained interests:

*The shareholding increased to 42%upon the pull out of Anglo American from ZCI but to be normalized when Sterlite, the preferred bidder for KCM, takes over majority interests.

*85% Ownership has since changed to J and W Holdings AG (ENYA BV).

To monitor the performance of the newly privatized companies with respect to production and metal prices in order to ensure that Copper and Cobalt price participation disbursements are received on a  timely basis and in the correct amounts;

To anticipate the reciept of deferred sale considerations and ensure that these are received on a timely basis and in the correct amounts?

To assist the Government, through the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, in monitoring compliance of the resources committed in the Development Agreements, including local Business Development Management and Training, Human Resources and Social Services obligations;

To ensure that ZCCM-IH environmental obligations under the transaction documents are complied with.  The world Bank has provided funding for this under IDA.
