Panori was founded
by J. Godfrey and Therese Labrosse in 1989. Named after thier
three sons, Patrick, Norman & Richard, the hotel grew from a 4
bedroom guest house to a 22 room hotel. They designed and
built a large outdoor restaurant seating 200 people. It has a
thatched roof and beautiful interior woodwork, built around a
large mango tree. Fresh seafood, European, Asian and Oriental
Cuisine are a specialty. There is a famous saying
"...you have not been to Tanga if you have not dined at Panori..."
In 1990 the rose
garden became the foundation for a bar and lounge area also
built with ornate woodwork and parquet floor. This project was
followed by an upstairs conference room seating 30 people.
Much to the scorn of many, the conference hall has become a
popular meeting place for groups and organisations from different
corners of the globe. Equipped with an air conditioner, TV
screen and VCR, the hall over looks the ocean and children's
playground.
All rooms are
self-contained with bath and shower. The new wings on the
second floor overlook the Indian Ocean. The warm breeze and
the cool blue ocean are a refreshing change from the city. |
