About Us

        

The Kalkrand Village Council is a local authority in the Hardap region of Namibia.  It was established in 1993 as a local government institute, to run the functions of the town or village.  The council have councillors.  The councillors are elected every five years by the community in a democratic way,  through free and fair elections. The councillors duties are the decision making, there are seven members, all from different political parties.  The office compromises of a Village Secretary, Assistant Accountant and a Clerk. 

The functions of the office comprise of:

  • Selling Water & Electricity.

  • Recieve payments on Municipal accounts.

  • Help customers with queries.

  • Compling returns for assessment.

  • Compling accounts and sending through the mail.

  • There are labourers manning our cleansing services doing refusel.

  • Drain Pumpings

  • All cleansinf required in town.

The head office is the Village Secretary who is like a C.O.E. of a company.  Due to the five yearly election no member of council will stay on permanently.  Overall the Village Council provides services such as Water and Electricity.  We are a services provider for the community of Kalkrand
