The Ministry is responsible for constitutional matters, (upholding what the constitution stands for), National boundaries, Refugees, Political Affairs (State Protocol), Press/Media, Cabinet matters, political consultative machinery, cinematography, anthropological research,
and disasters mainly but not exclusively. Extra-ministerial departments for which it is indirectly responsible are Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Auditor General, Attorney General's Chambers, National Assembly, Independent
Electoral Commission, the Administration of Justice and Office of the Ombudsman.

Basic functions to provide overall national leadership and direction (conceptual and operational) on all matters of national importance so
that the national ideals, principles and objectives are upheld, enhanced and realised.
