African Express
was established in 1993 as MDS Couriers
(Pty) Ltd
Botswana. From its humble beginnings, the
company has grown
into the largest express freight company in
Botswana. Today it
employs more then 200 employees in 9
branches in Botswana
and South Africa.
In March 2002
MDS Couriers became part of the Unitrans
family, when 60% of the company was acquired
by Unitrans
Freight (Commercial), and a new company.
African Express,
was established in Botswana. Subsequently,
in January 2003,
African Express was established in South
Africa where Unitrans
Freight (Commercial) holds 50% of the
shares.

African Express has embarked
on an initiative whereby it will employ empowerment
partners into all present and future ventures. This will
assist the company to reposition itself to reflect the
demographics and characteristics of the countries and
regions in which it operates.
